Last first day of school

Hannah had her first day of school this week. After spending August in a state of frenzied excitement at the prospect she burst into the yard to play with her pals, then went into the classroom, sat down with a puzzle and practically asked me what I was still doing there, while other parents hovered and other kids sobbed. As the third and final child she couldn't wait to catch up with the lads and get to big school.

I kept it together til I got to the car, then bawled my head off with Abba's 'slipping through my fingers' stuck in my head. My baby is growing up. Bye bye early childhood years, where did they go?
